I think the Illini will win today. Not a huge play but a safe one I believe.
Illinois beat Michigan by 15 last month (but that was a lifetime ago) so I don't read a lot into that win. Although it does give some insight that they matchup well with the Wolverines. Michigan plays Mich St (rivalry game) on Tuesday so they may be looking ahead just a little after Mich St pounded them a month ago.
Michigan has played one game without Weber at coach, an easy win vs Rutgers - at least in the 2nd half when they pulled away. They likely went into that game with some attitude like "our coach got screwed and we're going to show them." They also were without Diabate and Williams (suspended). The chip on their shoulder might still be there but only a little bit. But, for Diabate and Williams who served 1 game suspensions for the Wisconsin event might still have some attitude to work out but I don't think it will overcome a better Illinois team.
Illinois: 19th Off Eff, 30th Def Eff
Michigan: 25th Off Eff, 69th Def Eff
Steam is on Illinois as well. I think this is a good ML bet.
Side note, my wife happened to be sitting with me at the breakfast table when I capped this game.
She said... "Look at the last 2 weeks of trends on the teams W/L":
Illinois: W/L/W/L/W/L so they are due for a "W"
Michigan: W/L/W/L/W so they are due for a "L"
Based on her logic, this is an automatic winner.
