Apparently back on April 4th someone used my driver's license number to make another Uber driver account. They uploaded fraudulent documentation (either on insurance or registration card)

Needless to say, the other day I tried to log in to drive and I am getting an error message saying my account is blocked 🤦🏻‍♂️ I tried to live chat with their support team and it didn't get me very far. Ended up having to go to the in person help center they have out here and they had me take a picture with my photo ID and upload a picture of my photo ID and fill out some Identity theft paperwork and they will have a specialized team review it and get back to me.

Always guard your information guys. Unfortunately I don't have a clue how they got my driver's license number. I never lost my driver's license so maybe when I handed it over for something someone memorize the number or somehow took a picture of it. I don't know. Very aggravating and frustrating situation.

What's my next step? Do I try to get a different ID? Will my driver's license number change? If someone made a fake driver's license with my information, who knows what they could do with it? It's very troublesome. I ended up putting a freeze on my credit right away, although I don't know if my SSN has been affected as well

You should ask the DMV they will issue you a new license with a new number.

I'd run a credit report ASAP. They're free so find out if someone tried opening an account so you can address it before it gets too far.

Sorry to hear this. GL

I have had like 4 different debit cards compromised in the last 18 months. All reported and replaced. I believe all of them had a scanning device used on them by someone in my immediate vicinity.
Use a card sleeve or RFID wallet if you carry cards on your person. Scammers are everywhere out there guys.

I had a pretty bad case of identity theft several years ago.

They got everything imaginable. SSN, DL, address, phone number, email.

They tried to file federal income tax return using my info, file for unemployment in New York, boat loans, payday loans, credit cards, etc,

I got a letter from homeland security saying my info had been compromised by a group they were after based out of a border town in Mexico that was running these ID theft rings.

Once that info is out there, you basically have to monitor it forever. It’s very difficult to get a new SSN. I’m guessing new DL number depends on what state you live in.

It doesn’t get better. Can keep getting worse until you get on top of it. It took a couple of years before it wound down a bit for me. It’s been 7-8 years but I still get credit card/loan info in the mail, saying I applied for them when I have no idea what they are.

Same here. After replacing half a dozen credit cards over the years, I use the sleeves. This is especially important if traveling overseas in tourist areas. There are a lot of "card readers" that will pick up your info on the card when standing in a crowd.

You can get a PIN for filing tax returns. It keeps "others" from filing in your name (unless they've got your PIN).

For that I'm not sure Bobby. I don't think they could scan a license but like you said could easily write numbers down or copy maybe when you present it.
In any case I would check all your CC's and bank statements just in case. I also never use public WiFi anymore. The casinos there must be loaded with scammers lurking I would guess.
