That's a very odd way of saying it. It almost doesn't make sense

I think these announcers drop to cliches when they run out of stuff to discuss. I cringe when I hear them. There are a few of the lesser announcers on ESPN+ games that must have a card of them they go through.

Remember Dick Vitale.... "He needs to give up the ROCK". Referred to the rock a hundred times a game.
