I woke up this morning reading the local news in my hometown where a few of my seniors were badly hurt by a firework disposal gone bad. think they just filed up the fireworks and started to light them up in a firing range not so far from the busy community. The news said 19 were hurt, not sure if there are civilians, but 2 were critical.

These fireworks were confiscated from a firework factory that killed 5 people and injured 38 people 8 days ago. tsk tsk.

Some of the damage:

The already used fireworks they should have put into a bucket of water. The ones that they haven't lit yet they could have held on to them. I wonder why they were trying to get rid of them?

A batch of suspect fireworks exploded accidentally during their disposal in the southern Philippines, injuring 27 people, most of them explosives experts, police said Tuesday.
The blast happened on Monday as a team of police, coast guard, marine and fire personnel disposed of firecrackers retrieved from a nearby warehouse, where an explosion on June 29 killed five people and injured 38 others, in Zamboanga City on Mindanao island.

The fireworks were the third and final batch to be taken from the warehouse to an abandoned government-owned shooting range for a controlled explosion, regional police spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Helen Galvez told AFP by telephone.

They had been offloaded from a pick-up truck and were being doused with water when they ignited prematurely.

Many people say they should have just wet it and then buried it to the ground.

I think they need to get rid of it so it would not be a threat anymore or put them in ashes so no one can try to bribe someone to save those firecrackers for another reselling.
