I'm old (60) and I did not even know how to line shop back in the 80s when I started. We had a local and he is still there today. Called him up and it was take it or leave it as far as the line is concerned. I still have friends that call in and it is their only out.

to call in a bet correctly. One was even done at a phone booth.

I use to call in Sportsbook.com before they stiffed me 18k probably nearly 20 years ago. I remember calling BOL about 10 years ago regarding a wager for whatever dumb reason.
