But, the issue is, you have to go somewhere that will draw fans (money) and generate TV dollars for MLB. The owners want their payback for allowing another team or two.
I'm not sure, a Portland or Charlotte has the fanbase to generate enough $ to allow the team to compete with Dodger/Yankees $. We don't need another Oakland type team that puts a team on the field at MLB minimums. They have a $42M salary this year. Mets are at #335M and Yankees are at $268M. How can they compete?
Vegas a huge smash with NHL, my people tell me as much as the Raiders. Think any of the 4 major sports will work there, just not sure about MLB's appetite to expand yet.
