in what ways has it changed? i've never been and have been wanting to visit.
So, I'm 42 and used to go 2 or 3 times annually, sometimes solo, sometimes w friends, sometimes w a chick.

Here's the difference from, say, 2005...

1- cleanliness of City is far less. The streets, walkways and hotels you walk thru aren't to the same standard

2- homeless/ beggars are everywhere. This wasn't even a thing 15 years ago, METRO would get that shit off the street

3- the California crowd. Kids in strollers at 1AM; the stench of weed everywhere; broke dudes in wifebeaters swearing and crushing 24oz Busch Lights

4- hotel security at elevator now more or less makes getting hookers up there a public event

5- sportsbook comp programs are now, basically, worthless. Gotta drop a dime to get a few drink tokens; anonymous better has to stand in line w a $5k ticket well some douchebag rewards player skips the line to play his $10 7 teamer

6- club scene is ghetto

It just really feels like Vegas has catered to the urban LA crowd, and that's not what built that city

Good post Minny however I still enjoy Vegas

Granted it smells like weed now but I'm hoping once it gets legalized to other states visitors won't come to Vegas just to get high.

I agree with the homeless people. It's gotten bad however it's gotten bad everywhere in the bigger cities, NYC, SF, TX.... They usually keep to themselves so I appreciate it however I haven't encountered that many beggars on the strip.

I haven't stayed in any hotels (Luxor, Park MGM, NYNY) where's there's security guarding the elevators at late night. What bothers me is trying to get the room key to work on the elevators. That shit is annoying.

If I can make a bet at the kiosk, I would like to cash out using that method too instead of waiting in line. Hopefully they'll upgrade the technology. The food, entertainment, and shows are great and worth the visit. I don't play the slots/tables much so two or three nights is more than enough for me.

Well said. The stench of weed is legit. I haven't smelled it like that everywhere I walk since a Cyprus hill/House of pain concert circa 1993.

Food prices are outrageous compared to what they use to be a is the comp you receive is peanuts on your play. It use to be everything free with no resort fees and with minimal play you earned enough comp where your food was free as well. Instead of a stack of free drink tickets you are lucky to get one for a $500 bet. I have learned to tip the ticket writers or place them a bet and they will hook you up with more.

If you’ve never been you should go don’t listen to the Dobbie Downers that speak negatively of subjects more than anything positive I’ve noticed. Like l constantly tell my Dad think of the glass as half full. He’s always looking for the negative life’s to short. But that’s just me.
