Getting a passport

Thinking of going to Puerto Vallarta in April for my birthday.

I never had a passport before so I figured now is as good a time as any especially with the processing times to receive it

The processing time still not normal even for regular passport? I have a friend who wants to apply for tourist visa but available schedule is in 2023.

Got there 2 hours early and still missed it

Didn't help that I got held up by security for what was hair gel in my bag

I’ve been on cruises out of the country but never needed one before now

and you didn't need a passport for the Cruise ports?

I'm trying to remember if they are needed or not, but I've had a passport for about 30 years now, so not sure if I needed it for the cruise or just happen to have one and used it for ID
