According to Agoda’s data for the first half of 2025, Vietnam has climbed to 3rd place among Asian countries with the highest number of international return visitors, trailing only behind Japan and Thailand and surpassing traditional hotspots like Malaysia and Indonesia.

A particularly exciting milestone: Da Nang, for the first time ever, has entered the Top 10 Asian cities with the highest revisit rates. This marks a breakthrough, as in 2024, no Vietnamese city appeared on that list.

Within Vietnam, the top five destinations most frequently revisited are: Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc

The coastal gems—Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc—charm travelers with their pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and sun-drenched resorts.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi enchant with their dynamic energy, cultural depth, and rich culinary offerings—striking a delightful balance between relaxed leisure and immersive local experiences.

In Japan, some public toilets are made with transparent glass walls that instantly turn opaque when the door is locked — blending futuristic design with hygiene and safety. Located in places like Tokyo’s Shibuya district, these smart restrooms allow passersby to see that the facility is clean and empty before entering.

Once inside, electrochromic technology is activated, frosting the glass for complete privacy. The concept addresses two major concerns with public restrooms — cleanliness and security — while also becoming an architectural attraction. Designed by renowned architects as part of the Tokyo Toilet Project, these facilities are brightly lit, accessible, and regularly maintained.

This innovative approach not only enhances public trust in hygiene but also makes urban spaces more inviting and safe.

China has introduced a pioneering palm payment system, allowing users to complete contactless transactions by waving their hand over a scanner that reads unique vein patterns, linking directly to their bank account without needing a PIN, card, or smartphone.

This innovation, led by companies like Tencent with WeChat Pay and Alipay with its PL1 scanner, promises speed and convenience but raises concerns about privacy and mass biometric tracking.

While celebrated for its efficiency, critics highlight risks of data security and potential surveillance, reflecting a broader debate as China pushes toward a cashless, cardless society.

This development, though transformative, prompts caution given the permanence of biometric data and its implications for individual control.
