Just another reminder - don’t F around with your health - especially as you hit age 45-50.
Way too many people - men especially though think one of 2 ways - it can’t happen to me and/or I don’t want to know - I want to live and if it takes me - it takes me.
The thing is caught early - this stuff is generally entirely treatable and much easier to bounce back from. Prostate cancer is just one of these things we don’t like to think about given the unpleasant testing involved - but the simplest blood test up front can tell you if you are at an elevated risk.
In a couple of weeks - I’ll probably have a post up here remembering my dad who passed of cancer way too young. A lot of my memories with him involved gambling and days out at the track. He was one of those who felt going to the doctor was only for when you were really sick - not general aches or pains. We damn near lost him over a decade before he passed because he was feeling weak and short of breath - but refused to go to the ER until my mother insisted. Turns out he had a heart attack and a severe blockage. 20 years later at roughly the same age - I honored his stupidity by making the exact same mistake and going through what i just dealt with.
Testing is generally simple and painless. If you’ve got a family history - all the more important to stay on top of this stuff. Just another great reminder that can’t be repeated enough.
