TCU vs Iowa St to FS2. Time to step up Dogs!!!
After Saturday's results, FOX Sports has made a call: the Oct. 7 Fresno State and Wyoming game will receive a premier FOX broadcast. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. PT.
Last week, FOX Sports reserved the right to place either Fresno State at Wyoming or TCU at Iowa State on FOX - with the other game being bumped to FS2. On Saturday Fresno State defeated Nevada 27-9 and Wyoming defeated 35-26. Meanwhile, TCU lost 24-21 to West Virginia and Iowa State lost 50-20 to No. 14 Oklahoma. FOX Sports announced Sunday that the Fresno State/Wyoming Mountain West matchup would get the FOX broadcast while the Iowa State/TCU Big 12 matchup will go on FS2.
Not only will Fresno State be in a primetime 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET slot instead of the usual 7:30 p.m. PT kickoff, but there will be only one other network television college football game in that time slot. Louisville hosts No. 11 Notre Dame on ABC at 4:30 p.m. PT.
FOX’s Oct. 7 network TV lineup will be a triple-header that opens with a “Big Noon” kickoff of Maryland at Ohio State at 9 a.m. PT, then 1 p.m. PT kickoff of UCF at Kansas, and then Fresno State at Wyoming for the 5 p.m. PT game. Tim Brando and Spencer Tillman will be on the call for the Bulldogs game.
Fresno State’s games are typically nationally televised, but national network television appearances (FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS) have historically been a rarity for Fresno State - especially in the regular season. The Bulldogs did not appear on national network television once between 2019 and 2021. Their most recent appearance before 2022 was the 2018 Las Vegas Bowl game on ABC.
The Mountain West’s current media deal with CBS and FOX Sports has presented the conference with more opportunities to be featured on network television during the season. Fresno State is yet to receive one of those regular-season conference broadcasts, however. The Mountain West Championship Game also moved from ESPN to FOX with the new agreement, with Fresno State featured in last season's title game.
Of the remaining schedule after Wyoming, Fresno State has three games on CBS Sports Network and three more contests that could appear on any of FOX, FS1 or FS2 with a 12-day window for those kickoff times and broadcast decisions.
