He knew how to portray things as an “us v. them” not a “me and my interest vs those who oppose me and my interest”. He got people to buy into joining his side as he made them think he would be the ultimate victor and everyone wants to back a winner in the end.

He very well COULD have taken Europe by himself - just bit off more than he was prepared to deal with and was surrounded by way too many smart but not personable leaders. Those below him were either too focused on petty things and couldn’t think big picture or were way too big picture and couldn’t connect with the common countryman. It be became clear that there were factions in the hierarchy below the fuhrer - and those factions ultimately cost them.
