They certainly wouldn't take as much of a beating for sure as it wouldn't last as long. I know I was about 19/20 and my brother knew someone that was a trainer and sparred. We all grew up watching Rocky and Tyson was all the rage. I wanted to give it try. Fvck that. Once and done. I can still feel my head being jolted back with an unblocked jab. Never again.

Almost everyone takes a leather polishing the first time sparring. Hardest thing to do is to relax during fighting and not take inventory everytime you get hit. The human hand (fist) is the weak link in the chain when striking hence it will break or injure when transferring too much force. Wrap your hands and put a 16oz glove on and hit a leather heavy bag then do it bare fisted and tell me which causes more trauma to the bag.
