Does anyone have a rule never bet a favorite

I would think if you’re taking plus the points and plus money lines never play with totals. How can you get hurt long-term?

For my top ats bets I dont lay over 3 (especially NFL). I hate the 'win and dont cover'.

For totals (in football) I like to split it up into two, first and second half.
(if first half wins, I am done. If first half loses, i bet the same for second half)
Quite often you see that most of the points are scored (or not) in one half
