Correct Gold.

If you’re hitting +EV or plying an edge, bet size, which is an individual situational choice, shouldn’t be too high.

That said if you’re getting EV out of the market, then hit that fukker for what you can.

Bettors with experience will know just how especially how hard it can be to get there and will understand this.

2% of $2000
$40

If you‘re betting $100 a play on Saturday with a 2k roll just think of what a bad day will do to you.

You need to be able to live to fight another day.

All of what I say assumes the better is only betting into +EV situations and seeking to clear a margin. You have to play the math of it.

Often money management tools are most useful for the +EV bettor or those making an effort to lose slowly or to win.

But plenty of advice applies to ALL bettors.

2% means a 50 unit bankroll. With a 100 unit bankroll, you have a 40% probability to lose it all and 60% to double the roll. So 50 units makes those odds even worse.
To reduce your risk of ruin, you need more units in the roll. A 1000 unit bankroll only has a 1% probability of losing it all and 99% to double the roll.

This all depends, of course, on your expectation of winning.

Another important aspect is to think of that small 1-2% as a flat rate of betting, not a percentage of CURRENT bankroll.

Bettors should change their bet size as little as possible to avoid erosion from vigorish. If you change your bet size daily, you will change your breakeven point. Due to the situation with the vig, this can be very dangerous.
