There are teams that I've gotten burned by and subsequently will stay away from even though all the data says it should be a play.

Maybe its a superstition... But, I get tired of being burned by the same team over and over. Clearly, I'm not reading that team correctly.

Bet on team A.

Watch the game and team A sucks.

Next Bet against team A

Watch the game team A goes off burys you
Yes this has happen to me a dozen times in my lifetime and I’m not really volume guy. At that point you just have to stay away from that team and focus on the teams you get a better feel for.

This is a good example of the give and take of the markets that I often talk about.

The issue here is that the bettor is doesn't get the benefit of give and take because he overreacted to one game and made a bet because of it.

The bettor just gives twice, hopefully without wrecking themselves with bad money management.

Professional gamblers don’t even watch sports
I’ve watched about 7% of my games this year in cbb, no live betting here so won’t even sweat it like that. Follow the plays from the log and pay attention to the stats/numbers each game is more valuable as a capper.

It's true that watching sports has as way of exciting our emotions, which can short circuit our rational thinking. This is especially a problem for the more subjective bettor.

Just like winning and losing streaks will eventually get to that subject bettor, the streaks and action within games can do the same.

All of which short circuits, like I said, rational thinking and becomes the eventual downfall of the subjective bettor, no matter how good he is over time.

Getting a handle on this psychological aspect will help to avoid the effects of watching sports you bet on. Knowing about it is the first step.

Cap games early in the day. Watch games late in the day (after you're done capping).
You can avoid the emotional issues that effect selections.

If you're live betting.... Then go with the flow.

Knee jerk reaction - same thing that fuels live betting and people not understanding games involve momentum.

Every game is its own event. Yes - trends can indicate things that are changing - but overall quality teams will produce quality results long term - there will always be blips though. The number 1 will team to start the year and who is number 1 at end of the season rarely goes wire to wire. Stumbles happen and writers overreact.

Then they realize they had it right to start when the best team is the last standing.
