Once again - it’s a known hazard of playing pre season games.

And once again - books simply are ignoring a wonderful opportunity to make inroads with their most valued client - the type who bet meaningless games with real money.

Overall - the crowd that bets this stuff is profitable for the book. Are there bettors who know how to gain an advantage betting pre season games - absolutely. It just like betting in general, the number of players who are “sharp” is a small percentage as a whole. Why not let the players “win the battle knowing they will lose war” give a free shot only to boost their confidence in their gambling skills falsely and causing them to chase the money they won and then immediately lost.

I believe most books' rules are that the game must go 55 minutes for action.

Football rule is 55 minutes, game did not reach 5:00 left so all bets cancellled. That is standard rule, which all books fall back on unless they have specific house rules stating otherwise.

What would have REALLY been interesting is if the running clock would have gotten under 5:00 without running a play. My guess is books would have used time at stoppage (so official) even though the last actual play came with like 14:00 left.

The players understand this could be one of them. They wouldn't stop a real game, but this circus in their minds - and more importantly their owners' minds - isn't worth continuing when a guy's life - let alone health - is in the balance at that moment in time.

Guys, they don't stop games 99% of the time, this falls under the 1% where it was the right call, the guy's LIFE was on the line, you can literally see him have a seizure with his legs twitching on the field while his upper body was motionless. That supercedes gambling by a mile.
