Loads of interest - just not an easy sport to handicap and unless a long shot takes the Derby and Preakness - public interest wanes quickly.

Everyone loves an underdog story in racing.

I used to love sitting at the track dog/horse drinking beers, eating food the entire afternoon AND usually losing money. It was a great social event. You always saw the same guys at the track and always talked the same BS.

Not anymore. Everyone died off and/or lost interest.

There is lots of money being wagered its just that you don't have to go there.People are betting from their computers and getting larger rebates than the tracks offer.The actual betting handles are through the roof.To say you don't need tracks any more is being very stupid.

Going to the track is still a great time.Saratoga is second to none.Monmouth very nice as well

I used to love going to the race track with my friends and betting live horse racing as well as races around the country as well as placing my derby wagers. I don't go anymore since most of them have moved back to Kentucky but I still like horse racing. I just don't bet the ponies that much unless its one of the Triple crown races.
