This is more of what I would have liked to have seen done as well. If a star player is inked to a deal then it's executed as a team deal w/ the star getting a fair sum of the total and the rest being distributed amongst his teammates.
In the end, it is a team sport and the team is usually at least a part of any 1 player's success.
