Damn, I just called a racist for criticizing my black teammates in rec basketball

Context: we lost a big rec bball game last night

We have two guys on our team now who are probably our best individually skilled players, both black, but our offense is pretty inefficient because they play a lot of 1 on 1 ball. And last nigth they both sucked ass and couldn't hit a shot/and still wouldn't pass. Like below 20% from the field bad.

We were talking last night about what went wrong in the game. I basically went off and said we gotta stop playing "hero ball" and move the ball more as a team. And that it's been a problem all season long

One of these guys calls me a racist then the other ones jump in and agrees. The other guys on the team (all white) jump in and say not at all, but our "star" players think I am racist now. In group text today they say keep referring to me as "white boi" and that I play like a white boy (I'm primarily a catch and shoot guy/stout defender, so I don't mind the stereotype). But these dudes are now pissed off

Personally I want them to quit the team

Anyway I hate this shit. Can't criticize guys honestly anymore without some sort of pushback

Friends. We added one of them last season and then added the second one because the first guy wanted him on the team

Some people cannot take criticism - and worse when there’s an “excuse” - they are gonna take it. This just happened to be the available excuse handy to them.

It’s rec ball - it’s supposed to be FUN. Yea - I get the drive to win - but end of the day - none of y’all are going pro.

I’d just make it clear - if they can’t put up with a bit of criticism without turning it into a “race thing” - your out - and find a team that can work together. It will be more fun for everyone - especially when you actually beat guys like this who play to show off themselves solely.

It really is just an indicator of how immature they are and can't accept criticism. Don't dwell on it. Everyone on the team realizes its not true and it just makes those two looks small.
