It's not a parlay.

It was a futures bet that New England will play Seattle in the Super Bowl and that New England will win SU only. That futures bet odd was 3100 to 1, which sounds unrealistic but they are reporting it as such.
One bettor at Circa Sports placed a SB LX exacta back on Aug. 25 before the season:

$100 on Patriots to beat Seahawks at 3100-1 odds

Bet would win $310,000

If he had it the other way around with Seattle winning, then it would have been a lot easier to hedge by betting the New England moneyline. Only $100K on New England moneyline would do the trick, but with him picking New England as the winner in his futures bet, he would have to risk $200K at least and the win amount is halved.

There is a bettor at BetMGM who placed 3 x $50K on futures.

$50K on Seattle to make the playoffs at +185, which he won $92.5K.
$50K on Seattle to win NFC at 28-1, which he won $1.4M.
$50K on Seattle to win Super Bowl LX at 60-1 and its winning amount of $3M is pending.

He already hedge it with $725K on New England moneyline at +195 which pays a bit over $1.4M so he is in a very good shape no matter who wins and obviously with his NFC futures bet winnings he had the funds to do it.

If Seattle wins, then he gets $3,050,000 but loses $725,000, so he wins $2,325,000.

If New England wins, then he get $1.41M minus $50K he lost on the futures bet, so he still wins $1.36M.

It's interesting to note that he didn't hedge exactly in the middle but skewered more towards Seattle winning. $2.3M vs $1.3M. Hopefully, he knows what he is doing and made the correct decision since you are looking at $700K in missed out winnings if New England wins SU had he hedged right down the middle.

Come to think of it, I wish Dougy would have done what that guy did. He would have won his millions and he can retire. Dougy had a lot more than $150K to make that type of bets.

Even if it wasn't for $50K each, $10K each would have won enough.

I’ll always wonder if he would have. Or if he would have wanted even more??
Do you know how many times I have seen someone in casinos who cannot stop even if he has won so much and ends up losing it all in the end?

There were two incidences I saw in person at Hilton casino in Atlantic City (which is now defunct) many years ago.

This really young kid who was barely over 21 started with only a couple of thousand dollars betting 3 hands of $200 each at a $25 blackjack table. He could not lose, so he just kept on pressing and he reached the table max bet of $3,000 very quickly and still playing 3 hands; that's a whopping $9,000 bets per round. In no time, he cleared the rack and he took out all $1,000, $500, and $100 denomination chips and what's remaining in the rack wasn't enough to pay him had he won again, so they stopped the game to fill the rack.

Then, he proceeded to clear the rack THREE TIMES. I have never seen someone with that many orange, purple, and black chips in front of him. The problem was that he kept on drinking and there was no question that he was drunk out of his mind. After he cleared the rack 3 times, he pushed most of $1,000 chips in multiple huge stacks to a girl to the right of him and said "no matter what happens, don't give them back".

Damn, if I was that girl, I would have taken all those $1,000 chips and disappeared.

You know what happened in the end. He lost EVERYTHING including the chips he pushed to his girl since she was dumb enough not to do anytning but just sit there and watch the whole disaster happen.

I have never seen in a casino where they were busy taking the chips back in a chip carrier. It was so sad to watch.

Then, this old man lost $100,000 playing $100 blackjack and the casino gave him a limo ride to his home so he can get more money. He came back and got all his $100,000 loss back and he was probably up $10,000 in the end. If you were that lucky to have gotten that huge loss back, just go home.

Nope, he said to his son that he will play small and sure enough when he was losing badly, the bet size escalated very quickly to the table max of $5,000 and he lost EVERYTHING too.

Those two things I witnessed, I won't ever forget.
