California AG says daily fantasy is illegal in state

California Attorney General Rob Bonta released a legal opinion stating that daily fantasy contests are illegal in the state "because they involve betting on sporting events."

This had been debated for years

And it has to do with why I have often pointed out how Draft Kings is the biggest group of hypocrites you’ll ever find

For many years they did everything in their power to distance themselves from sports betting arguing that fantasy sports is no way the same thing

But guess who came running wanting a piece of the pie when PASPA was reversed and sports betting started being legalized across states…

By the way it’s very rare that any political figure from California makes any sense, but I agree with this guy, fantasy sports is a form of gambling

I like to refer to Fantasy as being the Little League of Sports Betting

A large majority of new bettors in the states were once fantasy players and once you move up to the big leagues (sports betting) you usually don’t go back

Same reason you can’t play real craps or roulette. The pact with CA tribes is that they can have slot machines and card games like blackjack so they have literally designed games that fit under these odd legal definitions.
