Wow that's big news but when you think about it it makes sense because even though Russell Wilson played poorly most of this season he did kind of look better when they finally fired their coach. Maybe Payton can revive Wilson and he can thrive there after all.

I think Denver got a decent deal as compensation for Payton

"The Saints will receive the Broncos' 2023 first-round pick (No. 29 overall) and 2024 second-round pick for Payton and the Saints' 2024 third-round selection, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter."

However, Payton had great talent when he was in New Orleans

One of the greatest quarterbacks ever, one of the greatest tight ends ever (while in new Orleans), some of the best all-around running backs ever, and some really good talent everywhere else over the years he was there

And as soon as Brees was done, Payton bailed

Wow.... Thought for sure he'd go to a better team with a better outlook.
Must have been a really sweet deal.
He has some work ahead of him.
I wonder if that's what he's looking for, a team he can build of his own rather than falling into a team that is already good. If he wins the Super Bowl with an already good team, he won't get as much credit. If he wins a Super Bowl with the Broncos, people will say it's mostly because of him.

That makes sense.
He's picked a good one to have to start from scratch with. If he wins a superbowl in Denver in the coming years, he's a master-builder.

It’s happened a few times with coaches under contract. I think the Pats had to give up picks to get Belichick

What surprises me most about this move for Peyton is not only the qb play from Russ this season, which was abysmal, is the fact they are dead in the water when it comes to picks because of the Russ trade.

They also got rid of their best player by far on D in Chubb.

Just a bad situation all around in my opinion.

I’m thinking the Walmart owners made him an offer he couldn’t refuse
