I disagree that Purdy is the problem with the Niners respectfully as a Niners fan although I do agree he shouldn't be paid top dollar. If he were smart he'd accept less money so they could rebuild the team which they'll need to do this offseason. Their defense isn't the same without those guys healthy so I can see them rebuilding both the defensive line and the offensive line in the draft. Trent Williams needs to retire and they need to draft a couple of offensive lineman because Purdy constantly is under pressure. I think he's fine when he has time but some of his receivers like Deebo don't get open. Deebo is probably gone next year because they have Jennings who costs less and produces big plays more consistently.

As for Shanahan my biggest complaint with him is that he needs to relinquish the offensive playcalling duties and hire an OC if he wants to keep his job. He is conservative when he needs to be aggressive and vice versa he abandons the running game when he should be running it.

I think he's a good QB, not an elite QB but pretty good.
After his coming out in his 1st two seasons, I think everyone had exceptionally high expectations for a All-Pro career (e.g. Rodgers, Montana, ....). We're all seeing now that he is not at that level and needs a decent team around him to play well.

Football is a team game most good Quarterbacks in the league are surrounded by good players. Obiviously if they played with a team that didn't have much surrounding talent they wouldn't look as good. I think Purdy would probably put up numbers on a bad team but he wouldn't win games and you all would think he sucks. It's a team game though and the Niners happen to have a good supporting cast for Purdy and unfortunately the majority of their top guys are injured this year so Purdy looked average at times and the team hasn't been winning.

I'm not sure I agree this is a playoff team this year with a different QB only because of the injuries on offense and defense. Our defense sucks this season but it's mostly because we were down so many guys. Yesterday was a glimpse of what the defense could have been like if Dre Greenlaw never got hurt in the Super Bowl but he did so yesterday was his first game all year. This year's defense was terrible against the run and part of the reason is they were so banged up they coudn't stop anybody. So I'm not so sure if we had a guy like a Josh Allen or a Lamar Jackson they could have overcome that.
