Very sad.

But begs the question - if several family members sick -why not seek medical attention ?

As I read it - they got home and he went to bed, found dead. If he died of asphyxiation - I’m guessing he vomited in his sleep and choked on it.

Teen of former Yankees star apparently died by asphyxiation after eating, Costa Rica officials say

genie im def crossing off visiting costa rica off my list
The teenage son of former New York Yankees star Brett Gardner appears to have died by asphyxiation after possibly having gotten sick from eating something during a family vacation in Costa Rica, authorities in the Central American country said Monday.
WTH! Yesterday, I kept looking at what country they went to and couldn't find any answer.. I can't believe it's in Costa Rica, Kid.

Dam... tsk tsk. I wonder what they eat and where. But for sure it's somewhere fancy and expensive.

Right? Unless they are on a beach side where hospitals are far, but still, I'm sure they went to a fancy place where medical stuff is accessible.

Hey Genie, WTH? Costa Rica?
Ever heard of this happening before there? Is there a specific food group to avoid?

I know..Very shocking. I didn't expect to read that it happened here. So weird. usually, the local news is quick to make news about known celebrities/players visiting CR. Looks like it's a news blackout here.

So far, this is the first time I've heard of this possible food poisoning. I won't be shocked if this happens to PH, but here? just no wayyyyy!

At first I thought maybe it was some alcohol poisoning (methanol) like we always hear about in Mexico but this sounds like it was some actual food.

I'm trying to think of what would make an entire family sick like an improperly prepared pufferfish in Japan. Its weird they all got sick and it was semi-delayed impact. That means its unlikely just an individual allergic reaction for the son.

Just so scary to eat food you don't usually eat, tsk tsk.

At least now they really mentioned the Country.

"The 14-year-old-son of Yankees World Series champion Brett Gardner tragically lost his life while staying at the luxurious Arenas Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort in Costa Rica, per local officials."

@MinnesotaFats have you been here?

Makes a little more sense - especially given his room was next to the mechanical room.

Yea - someone is going to be held responsible - and probably a lot of people/companies.

No idea how courts are in CR - but in the states you’d have at minimum hotel management, boiler manufacturer, last person to inspect the boiler, whoever made the parts for the boiler, company who built the hotel, company who installed the boiler for the company who built the hotel and who knows who else being sued.
