Boxing manager attempts to bet 500k on his fighter in the under card
So much in this story that makes me wonder WTF were they thinking.
Do you start with the fact he was “allegedly” joking about wanting to put down a half million on his guy - insisting he only “meant” to bet $110k (then why walk in with a bag containing a half million - what would you have done if some idiot said you got a bet?).
Or with the Hard Rock Seminole - who is a joke onto themselves with taking and then trying to void bets? So an unknown player shows up with a bag full of cash - wanting to bet a fight you normally would expect a handle of less than 10% of what he’s trying to lay on you - and your brilliant risk management move is ONLY taking 20% of his money ?!? No questions asked - no offering him a players card signup and comp a meal or something while you whip out your phone and google who in the hell is this guy to find out he’s an involved fighters manager ? Nope - just take the money.
100% this story was planted at the request of the Hard Rock. No way the fighters manager made this known to the press. It’s a plant by the casino - trying to gain a little free press and ignoring the fact it makes them look like complete and total dumbasses.
I get legal sportsbooks are new to Florida - but the concept of how to effectively manage one has been around for a few hundred years. This place must be managed by the same morons who allowed small track W/P/S pools get blown up by a few mid size gamblers pumping a few thousand into the “legal” pools and then betting heavily offshore a few years ago before getting caught manipulating payouts.
