I took Rutgers for a dime at + 7 1/2 (115). When Rutgers scored at the 8:57 minute of the third quarter, making the score 34-17, the book offered me a full payout, no discount with full awards for the wager. I took it, no reason not to take it.

Why would they do that? Why not wait until the game is over? It may not matter in the end but what is the benefit to them. What's the benefit to them?

Maybe they bowed their head because they knew that they’d been beat.

Due to the fact you had them +7.5, Would take 3 majors by Kstate to beat the +7.5.

Line was likely Rutgers -17.5 at that point

Book might have though you would pull the trigger on another bet. They want action

Thanks for the responses. Rutgers ended up being a winner but I'm still curious about the reasoning. Caesars isn't the best when it comes to communicating, so I'm not expecting a response anytime soon. I live less than an hour from Harrah's in Cherokee where Caesars runs the Sportsbook but in the past the employees know next to nothing about the online wagering part of their business. It happened a couple of months ago and nobody knows anything when you ask.

Defies logic but there has to be a reason. Sounds like this doesn't happen anywhere else and it could be a major flaw in their business model.

Happened again with Vandy just now, full payout, full reward points. Live line is Vandy -21 1/2

There is a reason or they wouldn't be doing it.
Everything I've read on this topic indicates its a marketing gimmick to draw attention to the book.

The book does an analysis on likelihood of losing the play from that point on and feels the potential loss (which is small) is worth the positive publicity it brings.

Wow, thanks for posting this, looks like I fell for it. Fwiw, the only reason I use them is for the points and proximity to the casino, otherwise, very average at best.

They must figure it just gets winnings into your account faster and then you would just bet into other games more quickly. Can recall some “early grading” being done in the past by various books.

I’m sure they get burned once in a blue moon with it. But customers stay pretty happy when not having to wait for cash and betting ammo.

This part is true too. I forgot to mention it.
I wonder if they do this more often for day games vs late games.
