BMR BEST BET THREAD - Jan 30th 2023 🟢

Post your strongest bet of the day. You can use any sport you want, all types of straight wagers accepted, just make it clear.

1. You may play money lines, but only between -300 and +300
2. Scoring is as follows; -110 is risking 1.10 to win 1.00 and risking +110 is risking 1.00 to win 1.10
3. Post the following information:
   Date
   Your record and +/- units
   The play, line, the odds (Use American Odds, not Decimal)
   The book
4. For MLB wagers, both listed pitchers must start in order for your play to be valid unless stated "Action" for the game.
5. For Soccer and Tennis plays: List the date, time, the opponent and how draws and retirements are to be graded.
6. Plays must be posted before the official start time.
7. If the odds posted with a play appear to be in error (i.e. significantly differs from the line found on BMR odds), an average of the "big" 4 books (BM, Heritage, BOL, 5Dimes) will be used to determine the applicable line to apply to the play.
8. No Parlays/Teasers/Live bets - Wagers on Quarters, Halfs, Periods are acceptable as long as they can be confirmed independently on BMR Odds page.
9. Do not edit your post or it will be graded as a -330 loss. If you omit something (e.g. the book), you may add a new post indicating that information as long as it is before the event starts. The play and the odds cannot be changed once posted. Contest participants must follow more stringent posting guidelines.

That’s a big drawback in this thread, sometimes posters get to the top and they stop posting plays because they don’t want to lose that position . I’m not saying Pat did that he isn’t around the site it seems anymore .

There really should be a weekly minimum of plays 2-3, but I don’t think there is a fair way to enforce that, jmo.

1. But..... What if we were to agree to deduct a unit each week in which a poster did not have any plays, until they were at 0 units. We wouldn't drive it negative just to zero.
   
   This would allow us to have a better representation of who is the actual leaders on the board that is relatively current.
2. If someone doesn't post for 4 weeks, I remove them from the list but still keep their record. If they come back, I can easily re-implement their record.
   
   The downside to this is that our list may only be ~15 posters long.

Anyway just some ideas.

Well...the total games is displayed so we all know who doesn't post regular anyways...no point to deduct units for not posting I think...

According to Shortstop, the point of the thread is to let people see who is capping well and see their best bet. If someone at the top isn't posting, it's not serving its purpose very well for the active posters.

I'm open to anything but won't make any changes without overwhelming agreement to any possible changes.

I like #2 as it just clears the clutter. I like checking out who’s hot so that I might tail or at least consider or reconsider a game. Too distracting looking at dormant posters.

Asking too much but would be hella cool if streaks were color coded for posters. Win 3 in a row then green coded and lose 3 in a row then red coded.

Agreed but color coding on BMR is a biatch... 100% manual and tedious as hell. Can't do it as part of the cut and paste from Excel. I could highlight something like that with characters but not color.
