The Milwaukee Bucks look unstoppable. A lot can happen before the playoffs start, but right now they are in championship form. We also have a bad beat for you, the Arizona Coyotes' rare winning role, along with news on the Dodgers and other baseball material. This plus betting trends, and free picks.

About Last Night…

NBA

With last night’s 118-104 victory at Brooklyn, Milwaukee has won 15 in a row and is 10-4-1 ATS. The Bucks actually trailed by 10 points at the half, then worked the Nets 66-42 in the last two quarters. Will Milaukee make it 16 straight at home tonight versus Orlando?

Speaking of streaks, San Antonio ended their 16-game losing streak, upsetting Utah 102-94 as 9.5-point road underdogs. That was just the Spurs ' ATS winner in 17 tries and their first away win since Dec. 19 (@Houston).

NCAAB

Kansas, VCU, and Marquette all officially won their respective conferences last night. One more thing, Marquette was picked 9th in the preseason Big East poll.

Duke beat NC State 71-67, improving to 15-0 this season at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Coach Jon Scheyer became the first head coach in the ACC to go undefeated at home in his first season. It's the first time since 2013-14 that the Blue Devils finished undefeated at home and their 18th overall as an ACC member.

For Duke backers, the victory had some melancholy. The Dukies were giving 6.5 points to the Wolfpack and were up 12 with 107 seconds left. N.C. State got it down to five points and took a needless foul with six seconds and Tyrese Proctor made both free throws to lift the spirits of Blue Devils backers, only to be crushed two seconds later by a useless Wolfpack three-pointer. Ouch!

NHL

Though Chicago had won five of six, they were +160 underdogs at the Arizona Coyotes. The line seemed enormous given these two were only separated by two points for the last position in the Central Division. But the Yotes won 4-1, which was just their 5th role as a favorite this season and easily their biggest.

Trendy Talk

NBA

  • Boston is 1-13 ATS revenging a straight-up loss as a favorite.
  • Miami is 4-17 ATS after a game where they covered the spread.
  • Charlotte is 5-17 ATS versus three-point shooting teams making 36% or more of their attempts.
  • Phonejis is 20-5 Under in non-conference games.
  • Miami is 16-5 Under after a win by six points or less this season.

NCAAB

  • Alabama is 0-10 ATS after playing a game where both teams score 80 points or more.
  • Tulsa is 4-21 ATS in all games. Florida is 14-2 Over after playing a home game.
  • Duquesne is 14-2 Under in home games after one or more losses.
  • Tulane is 10-1 Over when playing only their 2nd game in a week.

NHL

  • Philadelphia is 6-29 after allowing four goals or more in two straight games.
  • Vegas is 3-9 in home games after playing a game where four or fewer total goals were scored.
  • Toronto is 14-4 Over after scoring five goals or more in their previous contest.
  • Colorado is 13-0 Under after playing two consecutive home games.

What to Watch For and Win (Hopefully)

NBA

We have three games of note that you will be interested in for free NBA picks. On Hump Day on ESPN, the Cavaliers visit the East-leading Celtics. The next day on TNT, the 76ers are at Dallas and it’s the Clippers vs. Warriors. This plus daily picks and props in The Association.

NCAAB

It is the battle for 2nd place in the Big East with Xavier vs. Providence (FS1) Wednesday and later Texas will try and hold onto 2nd place in the Big 12 at TCU (ESPN2).

Thursday we have a trio of fascinating encounters with Michigan vs. Illinois (ESPN), Arizona State vs. UCLA (ESPN), and Arizona vs. USC (ESPN). This and other selections versus the college basketball odds.

NHL

Wednesday, TNT has the Rangers vs. Flyers and the Hurricanes vs. Golden Knights. As per usual, also find our daily prop picks.

Golf

Here is our Puerto Rico Open preview and Best Bets.

The Buzz

MLB - Bad Luck for Dodgers

Everything was set for Gavin Lux to have a breakout year, taking over as the Dodgers' everyday shortstop. After tearing his ACL Monday, that leaves a hole in Dave Roberts's infield.

NBA – Is the Bucks’ Mike Budenholzer a Great Coach?

In looking at the company he is keeping, Budenholzer just might be.

Betting - Ohio Huge Opening Number

Ohio generated $1.11 Billion in sports betting wagers in January 2023, its opening month with legal sports wagering, which made it the second-biggest market by the handle for January.

MLB – Financial Insecurity

Remember when Sinclair Broadcasting dramatically overpaid for local baseball TV rights when the FOX Sports subsidiary wanted out? Now it seems Sinclair, under the Bally Sports name, is going bankrupt for that portion of their business.

MLB is likely going to take over 17 teams broadcasting, literally at the last minute, and has hired experts in the industry to get them through this. They will likely have to negotiate for a new partner, at much lower rates. Developing story.

Top Betting System

NBA – Suns at Hornets (Totals 228.5)

Kevin Durant plays for the first time for Phoenix and the oddsmakers had to adjust the NBA odds to fit. Regardless, road teams like the Suns when the total is 220 to 229.5, after going under the total by more than 18 points in their previous game, a marginal winning team (51% to 60%), playing a losing team, the Under is an incredible 31-4, including 4-0 this season.

Out the Door

NBA – How The Game Has Changed!

NFL – Postscript In Chiefs Super Bowl Season

Golf - Lame Move

The PGA Tour is changing its schedule for 2024 and is almost exactly mimicking LIV Golf for several tournaments. I see this as a bad move. While both claim this will – Grow The Game, the only thing it will do is benefit a select group of players who already have plenty of money and funnel it toward them.
