So it took that long for the NFL to resolve the issue or did they wait for the courts to get some answers first?

Usually the NFL acts pretty liberal and punishes the player right away with only an accusation. This one took a while.

I think this is a different case. It says "for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy" but didn't mention what it is.

I'm sure they were waiting for the courts. I'd be surprised if the NFL would make a determination just based on a warrant and no actual facts
