I thought I'd give some thoughts/stats on a few of the "BIGGER" CFB matchups each weekend. The 3-4 games selected each week will be based on what I see as the more leveraging games that have public interest, close lines, between rival teams, or potential implications to the national title. They may/may not be on my card.

This week's games with writeups:
:checkmark Ohio St Vs Penn St.
:checkmark Okla St. Vs Kanas St. (coming soon in separate thread).
:checkmark Kentucky vs Tenn (Wager already has thread on this one so I will pass on it)

If you'd like to suggest a game let me know.

COMMENT WITH YOUR TAKE ON THE GAME.... Lets get some conversations going on these games.

Oklahoma St at Kansas St. Line: Okla St. +1.5
  • So the biggest question for this game is will QB Martinez play for Kansas State. If he doesn't, will the backup Howard play? Both are injured. Then you add in their best RB Vaughn is still questionable for the game. That is 2,300 yards of offense out of their 2,800 total yards that are in question. Let’s assume Martinez and Vaughn play for review purposes. If they are out, Okla St should roll.

  • K-state must run the ball well to win. Kansas State runs the ball for ~60% of their offense (hence the importance of Martinez who runs a lot and Vaughn). Okla St. must pass the ball well to win the game. 70% of their offense comes in the air. Those are each team's strengths. Also, if K-state falls behind too far, they will not catch up since their pass O is bad (110th).

  • Teams similar to Kansas St that Okla St has played this year are Texas, @TCU, & @Baylor. They won by 7, lost by 3, and won by 11 respectively. The lone team similar to Okla St. that K-State has played is TCU and they lost by 10 on the road.

  • Whomever loses this game is likely out of the hunt for Big 12 title game so both teams know they must win.

Selection: I see Okla St. with an edge with their passing game. I don't see K-state being able to shut it down. K-state's run game may come through but it will be tough/slow going and won't keep up with Okla St. If Martinez and/or Vaughn are out, this should be an easy win.

Oklahoma State ML +105.

oklahoma state needs to stop the run in the early stage of the game to win just like in the 2nd half of their game against texas on Saturday.
I agree if K-state runs well and controls the ball (keeps it out of OSU hands), it could be trouble for the Cowboys.

I just like Okla St ability to score quick with the pass. If they somehow do get behind, the game will still be in question due to their quick score potential.

Biggest question is Martinez and Vaughn. Are they playing and if they do play, can they play well enough following injuries.

k-state lost a lot more to injury than just martinez. a healthy k-state was the best team in the conference.

So Vaughn (RB - KSU) is not probably today. Martinez (QB #1) and Howard (QB #2) are both still questionable and likely gametime decisions.

Does anyone have any updates on these QBs? It really is a make or break for this game.

i'm looking at the injury report here - https://odds.bookmakersreview.com/n...cowboys-vs-kansas-state-wildcats/?eid=4641303 and all of them are still probable and questionable.

but according to foxsports.com:

"Good to go Saturday Kansas State offensive coordinator Collin Klein said Thursday that Vaughn is looking his healthiest in weeks and will play Saturday against Oklahoma State, Kellis Robinett of The W..."

"Considered true game-time call Martinez (lower body) is a "true game-time decision" Saturday against Oklahoma State, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports."

no update for howard.

The game has started.
Despited Martinez warming up, he did not start. Howard is playing as is Vaughn.

I'm kind of glad I stayed away from this one. KSU 14-0 in first two possessions over Okla St.
