Get better Greg! Been watching this guy for years convering various sports/teams

The Bay Area sports community and beyond are standing behind a longtime beloved broadcaster.

Greg Papa, in a statement shared by KNBR, announced he has been diagnosed with cancer and will step away from his broadcast work as he focuses on undergoing treatment.

Papa added that he looks forward to returning soon, but in the meantime, will hand over his radio hosting duties to his co-host, Greg Silver.

Aside from his radio and TV gigs, the 62-year-old has been the radio voice of the 49ers since the 2019 NFL season. He has called games for the Raiders, 49ers, Warriors, Giants & Athletics during his career in the Bay Area.

The 62-year-old joined the NBC Sports Bay Area network full-time in 2009, and he has been a long-time studio host of SportsTalk Live, Warriors Pre & Postgame Live, and Giants Pre & Postgame Live, in addition to his contribution to 49ers coverage.

The 49ers shared a statement to X, the site formerly known as Twitter, on Friday morning, wishing Papa and his family well during his recovery.
