Barkley (NYG) Jacobs (LVR), Pollard (DAL) were all tagged with "franchise" label and none signed a long-term contract. That means each will earn $10.1M (franchise RB amt) in the upcoming year. Pollard signed the franchise contract so he'll likely be at camp but, probably unhappy about the money.

Barkley and Jacobs have not signed and will likely miss camp. Remember the last guy to skip out (Le'Veon Bell - PIT). I'm wondering how you think this will impact the teams in the upcoming season.

Most of the RB's are replaceable, but some aren't. I wish all these good luck running the ball this season, because without these guys these teams will struggle. Imagine these 3 teams QB's throwing the ball 40 times a game, how many INT's with the QB's throw?? 15? 20?

Agreed. An NFL scout tweeted this... It kind of pissed of a lot of RBs (McCaffrey, Henry,... in attached article).

New England doesn't have a good QB so they will need a good RB this season, and for years to come. If Barkley sits out the whole season like Bell did, which he has already said was a mistake, he won't get anymore money 2 seasons from now. Those teams above need RB's.

I wonder what would happen to the Emmit’s and Faulk’s in today’s era.

They were invaluable pieces of the Cowboys dynasty of the 90s and Rams mini-dynasty.

They wouldn’t be valued near as much in today’s market.

The game is different than it was 20 years ago though. Passing game much more en vogue these days than it was back then with all the rules to protect QBs and WRs.

RB's a carry away from bad injury

very high risk to give them money

Every player is a play away from injury but your not wrong when you consider that Jacobs and Barkley are in the top 3 carries and touches last year.

Here are last year's numbers for the top 5 touches...

NFL RBs had a conference call to discuss the market situation.....
Nothing came out of the meeting as they basically said.... "We're screwed".

What is interesting is if this little group is the start of a "union" for a postion in the NFL. That would be great to see RBs create their own union to drive the market. That would drive the owners insane.
... Oh well. Its just a dream.
