Successful handicappers know everything about the sports they bet on and about all the strategies involved in that. They know that hard work pays off. Most of all, they know how important bankroll management is. In fact, bankroll management is arguably the most important skill required to be a successful sports bettor/handicapper/punter.
1. Set a budget that you can afford to lose
2. Choose a staking plan. Set rules that determine how much you stake on any given bet.
Example - for normal bets 1-2 % of your bankroll, for bankers 3-4% of your bankroll. 1% of your bankroll = 1 unit
3. Keep an account of your bets that includes wins and losses.
4. Never chase your losses when on a losing streak
5. Never blindly bet on the teams you support.
6. Study the odds and learn how to find value.
7. Shop around for the best odds on the market and create multiple accounts on the green listed bookmakers.
Example
Your Bankroll is 1K USD
1 unit = 10 USD
Your 1st bet is set at 10 USD as this is 1% of $1,000
For your bankers (the bet you like the most) you will wager 3 units = 30 USD
Your bankroll should always influence your stakes. So let's say you arrive at 1800 USD after a period - congrats - Right now 1 unit = 18 USD .... If you lose and you arrive at at 500 USD - 1 unit = 5 USD.
Remain calm, never get carried away.
Best of luck
