Alot of my friendships ended this year by others because of money. Three things that will never make me. Things people or money. It will never make me because I make the money. The money definitely won't ever make me.
Reminds me of this saying:

"Money doesn't change people, it reveals them."

There’s this thing called karma - evidently it bit the guy who was taking hundreds of thousands from boosters while in college right in the ass.

Of course rules changed once he left - but fact remains Baker clearly signed a shit ton of autographs for $$ while a college athlete and ineligible to profit of his NIL. Of course there have always been unsupported rumors of other transactions - just like most other big names pre NIL.

Will never convince me dad’s company wouldn’t have been in the position it was to begin with if Baker wasn’t a football star. Dad got used to cashing in on Baker’s fame and eventually went straight to the source when they didn’t need to hide it anymore.

That’s been going on for years.

Players signing for $$ in college. Johnny Football could have had an LLC as many as he did/as much as he made.

Not a Baker fan. He was a punk and probably still is in college. Most Longhorn fans despise him.

I don’t blame kids in college playing ball for making money when they can.

Agreed - no issue with college kids getting their share of the cash.

Only point was it was a rule when he played - one he clearly violated to some extent (selling autos) and likely took a step further and never got called on it - because boosters of rival teams were doing the exact same thing.

Reggie Bush got punished for the same thing - of course it was rescinded later - but rules are rules and there’s such a thing in the courts as the doctrine of clean hands. Basically the legal equivalent of “let the without sin cast the first stone”. If you cheated in a transaction - you’re barred from going after another in the transaction if THEY cheated you.

Kinda what Baker will need to defend against here - he accuses dad of ripping him off - what are the chances dad doesn’t allege it was “payback” for $$ he collected on Baker’s behalf and then funneled to him when the watchful eye of the NCAA was on Baker. He collected/paid Baker when he could but was promised a kickback via his company to again avoid watchful eyes of the IRS. Things went sour and now Bakers demanding payment in some fit of retribution. Write it off as a bad debt - don’t speak with him and move on before any skeletons pop out the closet I say.
