Ultimately, Germany should have taken care of business and it shouldn't have down to this.

But this is pretty awful. Japan should be going home

I guess who knows what happens the rest of the game, but this absolutely should not have counted as a goal.

I feel like if Germany and Japan changed roles in this, a lot more people would be upset by it.

Messi penalty vs Poland wasn't a penalty. Saved, but in the end it's still bad refereeing.

Imagine how many mistakes were made before VAR!
Yeah it's crazy to think about. Some human error is part of the sport I guess

They probably also miss so many out of bounds along the sidelines when guys barely "keep it in". Seems like they never blow it dead when in real time it often looks 50/50

IDK. I think the ball stayed in.

The 2nd picture is from the field side of the line looking back towards the endline and the edge of the ball hasn't completely cleared the line.

A picture from above down the end line would likely show the ball to still be "touching" the line (a portion of the ball would still be over the end line). Granted the part of the ball touching the ground is out but the ball has to be completely out (the inside edge of ball must be past the verticle plane that is the along the outside edge of the goal line).

I didn't have a play on this game that would have been effected by this but, I think it was still in.

Very unlikely the ball had stopped momentum

This is an even more incriminating picture. Clearly crosses the plan, shoulda been a Goal Kick for Spain.

Fair point. Did these pictures show the ball at its maximum point off the field or just prior to that?
If the ball went farther, I'd say it was out.

Maybe we're not considering all the angles. What I mean by that is the angle that the VAR official had a play on Japan. :ROFLMAO:

Wouldn't be a big shock to anyone if it were true. I mean it is FIFA.
