like when the ariz cards are up 27-3 after a 3rd qtr td and all of a sudden their offense can't do anything they did previously? i admit it makes me wonder. like what did the panthers do all of a sudden to stop the cards?

It’s way more common than we are lead to believe.

Ask any former minor leaguer how much stuff goes on down - you have a ton of young guys, lots of free time and making relatively decent money.

Usually starts with golf or poker for them. Then moves on to betting MLB games - you get a guy making a couple rehab starts in the minors or getting a call up and it spreads.

Basketball is more of the network game - family member/family friend makes the connection and gets a player onboard to “help them out”.

I actually think football is the “least rigged” sport - at least by the players.

Refs / leagues on the other hand.

No other sport can an individual player make LESS of an individual impact - but with 60+ guys in a team and a couple dozen individuals in contact with them weekly on coaching:training staffs - the chance for a crooked player is higher.

Refs though have the highest impact on the sport over any other official. Easy to hand out new sets of downs or take scoring opportunities away in football.

It’s not what the Panthers did, it’s what Arizona allowed to happen. They found themselves in an odd position in that, they were way ahead, and had no idea how to handle that.
There is soooo much mental that gets lost on fans. It is a fine line that separates the best from the worst in professional sports. All those players are far superior to others not on the field.
This goes for all professional sports, not just football.

I don’t want to offend anyone, but this fixed stuff in relation to what actually is trying to be fixed, is just a way to justify what we cannot understand. I did this stuff for 25 years. Talked to countless professionals from multiple sports. They talked to me because I was part of the club. That’s the mindset with athletes more so than not.

Hope that helps .

If they were all fixed and the teams, players, league, coaches etc. Are all in on it why would the league punish the players for "cheating"?
I don't think it's all of them.

It's the league and it's refs controlling the outcomes.

Players get punished to keep up appearance of legitimacy.

Ask yourself, why is the headquarters of the NFL in the same building as the FBI offices in New York City?

I never thought about it 🤔
Protection.

FBI is there to cover up for the league and do it's investigations for it.

Not saying that is true for the current administration but certainly for past ones.

Why do you think Goodell and the league are shitting themselves over this Jon Gruden lawsuit?
