The problem here is that Blanco said the substance was rosen which is legal, the umps seemed to disagree. Now rosen is legal but isn't supposed to be pilled up everywhere but that's a fine line.

When checking his spin rates which are always elevated when illegal sticky substances are used Blanco had no rise or spike on any of his pitches against his career norms. soooo

I agree.
They took the glove for analysis so if it was just rosen they will be able to tell ASAP and will have to apologize to the Stros. The Astros did win in the 10th but still this made Blanco look like a cheater.

On the other hand, if they find it was something else, I see a suspension coming. Hopefully, it was just rosen.

Is there a fine for the umpire if he is proven wrong?

MLB Umpires Union Contract IS COMPLETE BS. They can get away with all kinds of mistakes with no
repercussions.

Look at how bad Angel Hernandez is... He should be taken out and shot. Yep. Shot. The guy is so bad statcast had to create a new ratings category for him... IMBECILE

Oh, he is getting suspended either way. Rosen is legal although there is a gray area of how much can be used which seems a bit difficult to be consistent with. but either way the ejection = an auto suspension.

will be interesting to see if they note any other substance that was found. it there was then by all means he has to pay for that

Turns out was his hair dye and not rosin after all.
I thought they said it was rosin. It was "white powder". He has black hair. I'm confused.

Seems like they ejected him because he had it on his glove. You're not allowed to have rosin on the glove hand.

“It looked to me when I grabbed the glove (that) there was some rosin,” Espada said. “You’re not allowed to use rosin on your non-pitching hand and that’s what it looked like to me. It was a little bit sticky with the moisture and the sweat but that’s what it looked like to me.”
