Most gamblers are image obsessed.
Like to play the “big shot” when out amongst others - when they think no one’s looking - they will cheap out in tips - complain hoping for a comp and in general be the biggest cheapskates imaginable.
Myself - I’m just cheap - no point in making myself out as anything else. I’ve certainly picked up checks before - but no need to act like some big spender to impress.
Save the money for gambling - and when I win - be charitable with it. More good karma in giving to a charity than tipping. I look at tipping like wages - there’s an expectation that customers “pay” a portion of wages - if my company has a profitable day - they don’t give me 20% more in that weeks pay - I get paid the same/so that’s my tipping philosophy - I come in and plan to pay a set amount towards tip - if I win / lose - I tip the same. I view it more as a service fee over a “gratuity”.
