on july 8th they had a 15.5 game lead

cleveland is hot won 7 in a row and 12 of 13 games

cle gets 3 more games against detroit coming up next week

this would be an epic collapse if tigers blow this divsion

Since All-star break, Detroit has been a breakeven team. Completely flat-lined on wins/losses.
Had great momentum in the 1H of season. Was the best team in MLB for a while.

Now they are at best average. They won't go far in the playoffs.


Cleveland may catch them. It all depends on their 3 game series vs the Tigers in Cleveland starting next Tuesday. Det has a harder patht to hang on in the AL Central w/ 2 difficult series (@CLE, @BOS) and one so-so vs ATL at home.

Its the best time of year for MLB.
