Should be cheaper than medal. rarely though, about the same price. That 40 year shingle is very well worth it for the little added cost. Don't let them gouge you though. They are nort that much more expensive.

Start with Home Depot or Lowes to get a price., then shop it with an installer.

Yea - there are some tradeoffs with metal.

Just depends on where you live/environment and the look that fits your house.

As with any shingle regardless of the warranty is only as good as the installer and ventilation in the attic space below - and weather makes a big difference.

40 year are generally better quality than 30 year and more durable - but just like “lifetime” brake pads they sell - your also buying the warranty. 30 year might hold up for 50 years and 40 years might be near end of their life in 25. It’s just an “estimated” life based on normal usage/conditions with proper instillation.
