Anyone else follow harness racing these days ?

Little Brown Jug coming up tomorrow - today is Jugette day.

Miss the days of going down to Delaware County and spending the day watching and betting - was hoping to make it back down this year - but didn’t work out.

Always fun but rarely highly profitable - a lot of $2.40 winners in the sport. Always felt like 1/3/5 most likely winners.

A lot of great people involved in the sport too - unlike thoroughbred where feels like crooks at every corner. Just a lot of people running the fair circuit and trying to stay afloat.

Very little money in the betting pools 90% of harness tracks that’s a big problem

Also sometimes not on the up and up

More often money is all concentrated into the favorites - small pool/high volume on a single horse.

Makes for some interesting payouts though when things don’t go to plan - all you need is the fave to break and gets a whole lot more interesting.

Similar to greyhound racing in a way - better playing numbers than trying to handicap.
