The 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates galvanized Steeltown with their World Series victory. But they eventually turned dysfunctional, succumbing to the temptation of cocaine and bringing the sport of baseball down with them.
Seen a good documentary on Dave Parker that brought it up. I was pretty young than and no cable until mid to late 1980s so I just mainly heard about Phillies than. I was more worried about getting that Yankees catcher Thurman Munson's Topp's baseball card after he died in the plane crash in 1979

I was at a Greatful Dead concert during that game watching the game in a Sony Watchman. Guy’s were asking me what’s the score and l just assumed he scored on that double. I was giving everyone the wrong score till the Dead took a break and payed more attention and I’m like WTF guess he didn’t score. Was a great game.

That was a damn good series. What the hell was the 3rd base coach doing?? He just fvcking stood there?? Funny seeing chuck at 2nd base. Remember when he was a Yankee and for the life of him couldn't throw the ball to first base. Such a great player and it was all mental as the errors kept racking up.
I was reading OPs article said Rock Raines slid head first only because he didn't want to break the vial he had in his uniform at all times as he used during games. Good read
