Honestly surprised all high schools and most middle schools don’t have metal detectors these days

I know cost is a factor but seems like they could find a way

Sounds like thankfully the shooter offed himself before it got much worse

Two kids shot though. Sounds like no fatalities there thankfully. Hope it stays that way

Sadly - there is no stopping this kind of thinking.

What you can stop is 17 year old kids from gaining access to a damn handgun - especially ones with issues.

Again - can’t wait to hear how this kid got a gun. Did parents just keep one in the house and think their son would never take it to school - or did they buy it for him to be the “cool” parent who entrust a weapon to a kid ?

I’m solidly pro gun - but there is no reason in hell that anyone under 21 needs to have unrestricted access to a weapon - especially in an urban setting. I’m talking any damn gun - handguns just make it all the stupider. Let me get this straight - an 18 year old can’t rent a damn car (too dangerous) - but can easily purchase a gun for example ? Makes zero sense to me. Grew up around them and handled plenty as a “kid” - but there’s a difference between having access under supervision and having unrestricted access. Trigger locks and secure access a must - and secured doesn’t mean in a safe where the kid knows your combination.
