A person is a person, why have Ebony for a black person? If they are going to do this by race, they should of made it Shaniqua , are they going to make one for young black makes too? Todd alert for Whites and Leroy alert for blacks. We are one people. It should of stayed as Amber alert for all.
An Ebony Alert is an emergency notification system created in California to help find missing Black youth and young women, aged 12-25, who are at risk or have disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Modeled after the AMBER Alert, it uses electronic highway signs, television, radio, and social media to spread information and is activated by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) upon request from a local law enforcement agency. The system was established due to the disproportionate number of Black individuals who go missing and often go overlooked by traditional alerts.

Key aspects of the Ebony Alert:
- Purpose:
To raise public awareness and aid in the swift recovery of missing Black persons who may otherwise be overlooked by other alert systems.
- Target:
Black individuals between the ages of 12 and 25, inclusive.
- Criteria for Activation:
A local law enforcement agency must determine that the missing person is in danger due to their age, health, mental/physical disability, or environment, or is suspected of being a victim of trafficking.
- Activation:
The investigating law enforcement agency requests the CHP to activate an Ebony Alert.
- Dissemination:
The CHP then uses electronic highway signs, broadcasts, and social media to distribute information about the missing person within a relevant geographical area.
- Purpose:
- Disproportionate Impact:
Black children and young women are disproportionately represented among missing persons in the U.S.
- Limitations of Other Alerts:
Black missing children are often misclassified as runaways, and Black adults are sometimes misassociated with criminal involvement, which can prevent them from being eligible for Amber Alerts.
- Addressing Systemic Bias:
The Ebony Alert aims to address these issues by ensuring that missing Black individuals receive the necessary attention and resources for their recovery.
- Disproportionate Impact:
