Hmm, not really. they are definitely for money and real money US online casinos.
They use a loophole in US laws. You can play for free using "gold coins" or whatever each place calls them, but you can also buy what is called "SC," It equates to 1 SC = 1 Dollar. So you are buying SC and cashing out SC which are "prizes" and not cash technically. But it is still dollar to dollar when u strip away the terminology lol

all those games already have built in house edges etc. Now I guess they could be can never be too sure but not sure its worth it when u can already print money with volume on the up and up
