Wow! 9 winning streaks for Sterling, though I am also seeing a lot of winning history for O'Malley and both fighters are young.
Sterling has fought the better competition and it's not really close because the UFC fed O'malley a lot of cupcakes to build up his record because they would like nothing better than for him to be their champion. Right now I lean towards betting on the champ to retain by sub at +180 on BetOnline.

OMalley so overrated
lost his last fight in reality

He should be -1000 dog
I actually agree the line should rightfully be wider. O'Malley is all hype and no substance in my opinion. He has a punchers chance as an elite striker but Sterling is just simply better and should win this fight. I would probably make him -330 or so but O'Malley is getting respect by the books and the public.

Good luck, JR.

But any particular reason why UFC favored O'Malley or like to build him up as their champion?
The guy is must see TV when he fights. Even though he's fought mostly cans in his career a UFC fighter he has put on a show in those fights. If he's champion he'll be like Conor Mcgregor in Dana White's eyes because people will buy PPV's just to watch him fight because he's exciting. That's why I think the line is where it is because O'Malley is perceived as being better than he really is by the betting public.

I see, that makes sense.

Who's your favorite MMA fighter, JR?

My favorite fighter of all time is the recently retired Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. I know he lost way more fights than he won towards the end of his career but that guy was as tough as they come and in his prime he was one of the best fighters on the roster. As for today I'm not sure I really have one maybe Alexander Volkanovski but I don't really care I just like to watch the fights.

Yep I started watching back in 2015 when Brock Lesnar was in the promotion and playing MMA DFS on draftkings got me hooked. I play DFS on most of the cards so I guess you can say I'm a big fan of the UFC. One thing I will say though is it would be better if there wasn't a card every week but I'm probably in the minority on that one because people love to gamble on this stuff and UFC is the one sport that you can make a lot of money on if you do your homework. I just think it would be better for the promotion if you put on better cards maybe twice a month instead of having a watered down card just to put one out there.

Wow! So 8 yrs and counting..

Yeah, looks like it's been like a tradition to watch the fight action every weekend. I remember a few weeks ago when they put female MMA fighters on the main card and the majority of the fans didn't like it.

I'm probably one of the rare males that doesn't hate womens's MMA. One thing about female fights that I will say is I don't have nearly as much success betting on them as the male fights so I mostly don't bet them.

O'Malley is a fantastic striker. One of the best in the game. But he definitely lost that fight against Petr Yan and got a favorable decision. He's a social media star, he sells, so UFC pumps him. I like Suga Sean, but Sterling is making a case for being the best ever in his weight class. Sean has really been protected by the UFC throughout his career. Before Yan, O'Malley last two wins are against basically nobodies. Rauliana Paiva is a pedestrian Bantamweight who is 3-4 in the UFC, and Kris Moutinho is a nobody who they pulled off the street on short notice and already washed out of the UFC. Sean pieced him up but wasn't able to finish him, which is a bit alarming. O'Malley really has no other signature wins but Yan, who he really didn't beat.

Once Sterling gets you down, it's game over. He took Henry Cejudo down, gold medal Olympic wrestler, and dominated on the ground. Albeit Cejudo was out of the game for three years before the fight, that's still super impressive. O'Malley has good takedown defense, but he's never been in a five round fight in the UFC, and Sterling is going to get him down eventually, one way or another.

Sterling at approx. 70% implied probability is maybe a touch pricey because O'Malley does have some sick striking and serious KO power, but Sterling is good at everything and once he gets you down, you usually aren't getting up. At Draftkings Sterling by submission or decision is -200, so saves you a little if you want to risk against the ground and pound TKO. Sterling likes to guillotine choke dudes once they're down and he's on their back.

Sterling is focused and wants to be one of the best to ever do it as a fighter, O'Malley wants to be a celebrity in the same way Conor McGregor was/is. He also chain smokes. Literally. lol He only cuts back on his smoking about a month before a fight.

Sterling has a better camp and better training partners. O'Malley's head trainer is a childhood friend. Tim Welch is a good striking coach, but I question whether or not their friendship clouds O'Malleys ability to get better on things he needs to improve on because when your best friend is also your coach, you maybe aren't always hearing that hard advice you need to.

Sterling did want this fight to be later in the year. UFC and O'Malley pushed for it to be in August in Boston which Sterling did not want and was forced to accept. So there's that.

I will sprinkle on Sterling and look for some props. Agree with Sam, Sterling by Sub at +185/+195 right now probably has some legs. UFC crowds don't like Sterling and love O'Malley usually so that will be an advantage, but I don't think Sterling really cares.

Should be a fun fight
