I just read an article where the SEC is going for a proposed 9 game SEC Schedule once Texas and Oklahoma join in 2024 with a pod system where divisions will be eliminated and there will be 4 pods of 4 teams in which each team will have 3 rivals they play every year and than a rotation of playing 6 other teams from the other pods each season and playing the other 6 teams they didn't play the following season.

Saban is complaining that the 3 rivals proposed for Alabama would be Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee. He thinks that isn't fair for Alabama even though all 3 teams are considered traditional rivals for the school. He says in the article he is in favor of playing more SEC games but wants to go to 8 SEC games a year and play 1 rival every year while playing 7 other schools from the remaining 14 schools every year. That would equal less SEC games though versus the proposed 9 SEC games. His proposal equals less money due to less conference games and less marquee matchups. Who wants to watch Alabama vs Vanderbilt as opposed to Alabama vs one of these proposed rivals every year?

The BIG is doing something like this as well and obviously some schools are going to have tougher schedules, but they are better usually so they should win more and in brings more revenue to the conferences having these tough and exciting matchups plus with a 12 team playoff coming soon these teams can afford losing a couple of games and maybe not even playing in their Conference Title Game.
