70’s singer Roberta Flack has passed away at age 88

Flack died on February 24, 2025, at the age of 88. Initial reports stated that she died at home among her family. However, her manager, Suzanne Koga, stated she died from cardiac arrest on her way to the hospital in Manhattan.

Sad - but the greatest generation of singer/songwriters is getting up there - so not really shocking.

It’s funny the little bits that come out you never knew when someone like this passes. For example I always knew that “Killing me Softly” was about Don McLean (American Pie singer) but I don’t think a lot of people did - but never knew she not only lived in The Dakota but was next door neighbors to John Lennon and Yoko and was actually friendly with Yoko.

She had the talent to be as big as any female singer in her time - right place/right time - but didn’t grab the spotlight like some did and as taste changed to disco kinda faded.
