Son of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas

USC basketball commit Alijah Arenas was involved in a car accident early on Thursday morning, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania. Arenas was hospitalized after the accident and placed in an induced coma. Arenas is the son of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, and he has been committed to the Trojans since January.

“Five-star prospect and USC commit Alijah Arenas was involved in a serious car crash early Thursday morning, hospitalized and placed into an induced coma, sources tell ESPN,” Shams Charania said in a post. “Arenas, 18, is the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas.”

Damn - thoughts with him.

Odd - no details on crash/photos and stating Arenas has no broken bones.

How exactly do you suffer what’s presumably a serious brain injury - but no other fractures.

Almost sounds to me to be some sort of car surfing accident or something stupid like that. Would explain why no crash photos (as no damaged car) and the serious head injury but no other fractures.

More info is coming out.

"According to Shams Charania, the 18-year-old USC commit was involved in a car crash early Thursday morning and placed into an induced coma.

VIA SHAMS/ESPN
According to a Los Angeles Fire Department public information officer, officials responded to a call at 4:55 a.m. after a Tesla Cybertruck crashed into a tree/fire hydrant with fire involved. The LAFD did not identify the person involved but said the 18-year-old driver was out of the vehicle and that he was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Sources confirmed that Arenas was involved in the crash and told ESPN that initial tests showed he did not suffer broken bones."

18 year old in a vehicle with over 600 horsepower is a recipe for disaster.

He never would’ve gotten the accident if didn’t receive lots of money

Yea - because 18 year old Lebron James wasn’t driving a Yellow H2 Hummer to SVSM while an “amateur” athlete.

It kind of makes sense being a CyberTruck - tall kid/lots of torque/power and hitting something immovable - the biomechanics of it all. He probably was able to get out of the truck himself - but hard hit to the head.

Hopefully he recovers with no lasting damage.
